Friday Funnies – You Know You’re a Nurse When…

April 9th, 2010 by – Marijke Durning

Ok, it’s Friday! If you’re going to be working the weekend, Friday may not mean a lot, but in the spirit of the usual end-of-week relief, how about some of the old groaners and maybe some new jokes and giggles to lighten our day?

Humor can help us get through a tough day. Sometimes it’s silly humor that everyone can laugh at (knock-knock jokes anyone?), but other times, it’s morbid humor that no-one else would find funny. Of course, you can always visit Medi-Smart’s Humor page any day of the week, but let’s try a Friday Funnies feature here too.

I’ll start:

You know you’re a nurse when…

- You consider a tongue depressor an eating utensil.

- You’ve ever had a patient with tattoos all over, and rings in his tongue, nose and brow, say, “I’m afraid of shots.”

- You’ve looked at a stranger’s hands and thought “wow, I could get an 14- or 16-gauge into that vein without even looking.”

- You’ve sworn you’re going to have “Do Not Resuscitate” tattooed on your chest.

Do you have any to add? Let’s see how big a list we can get here!
